make a widget with the top 5 priorities
so people can post them on their own site

Create separate section for savvy non-US citizens - useful.
I did not know the non-US citizens were unwelcome when I registered and, in future, I will respect the rule as it now exists. News of your site came to me in Australia via Nigeria and France so we are all watching with interest. In my view, it would be good for the next President to also have data on how US policies are perceived by/impact on, the rest of the world.

I’ve been thinking through how this might work. It’s not a top priority right now, but is definitely under review.

be able to sort ideas within their assigned categories
In the newly created categories (great!) the items show up in their overall rank order... but as i endorse more and more ideas, it becomes difficult to manage my own list.
The default ordering on these pages should be... first the items i've endorsed, in order that I've ranked them, then items i've not endorsed in order of their overall rank.
Ideally, I should be able to reorder things on those pages... but I think that'd be too difficult unless i were able to type in a new rank for the item (per someone else's idea).
16 voteswhen you’re on an issues page, you can click on the ‘yours’ link and it will show you all the priorities you’ve endorsed in that issue. but it doesn’t let you sort them. i should add that.

add "on-the-fence" option--it would facilitate discussion
on some issues, I agree to an extent, so it would be nice to have an "on-the-fence" option. this would also encourage debate and get people thinking more in-depth.

Add ability to un/subscribe to specific comment threads
I like the ability to receive email notifications for comments to your discussions, but some comment threads get out of hand and you end up receiving dozens of emails in a single day for that one discussion. It would be nice to be able to unsubscribe to those discussions, especially when those discussions become pointless and unproductive.

please, make this international!
so there would be such a voting-platform for every country. and also one for the global issues.
Thanks from Germany!6 votesstarted ·AdminJim Gilliam (Admin, Netroots Nation) responded
I am actively working on making this available to other countries, expect to see something in about 6 weeks.

have a full screen to be able to re-arrange rankings.
I see that you can re-rank ideas by typing in a new number in that narrow column. I was hoping that there could be an option to fill the entire screen with all of your ranked ideas and then be able to rank them on one screen (or at least a larger one). That way you could do it all much more effectively. If that is already available, please point me in the right direction. Thanks.

A Few Fun Suggestions To Make This A Political Powerhouse
Head over to LibraryThing.com so you can see how their "bubbles" work and how friends link up. I found an old friend in an "author bubble." It would be fun to see what coalitions there are. It would also be handy to have a local thing so groups could form on the pavement. It would be useful for people who want to make their message heard, locally and nationally. This could be a site for big change if one issue gets a huge bubble going and it hits the pavement.

Hold elections by state for "para-legislators"
How great would it be if each "real" elected official (governor, senator, even president) had a "people's choice parallel" elected person to "champion" the people's ideas. Imagine a "Para Senator of Tennessee" holding a press conference and representing the PEOPLE'S ideas.

Chill Out With Mladic, Karadzic & Hadiz

Ruthless Men in the World : Ratko Mladic and Radovan Karadzic
Confessions of a Female War Crimes InvestigatorRetrospectively, it was all so simple, natural and matter of fact being on a boat
restaurant in Belgrade, sitting with, laughing, drinking a two hundred bottle of wine and chatting about war and peace while Ratko Mladic held my hand. delegation of votes
to delegate ones vote to another person completely or just concerning certain issues, would allow more people to paticipate in Whitehouse2 because of division of labour. for it soon will be impossible for a single person to read every / vote on every single question.
Many Thanks for your great work!3 votesunder review ·AdminJim Gilliam (Admin, Netroots Nation) responded
The site is designed so that people don’t have to vote on every single question… because it’s not really voting, you’re setting your priorities. so if you only want to set your top 10 priorities, that’s totally fine.
And joe’s top 10 priorities are counted the same as suzy’s top 10 priorities… and as a person adds more things to their list, each of those ‘votes’ counts less and less in the rankings.
So I think we have a quite elegant system to handle people who can only give a little time, and people who can give a lot of time. For people who have a lot of time, that’s where the whole political capital system comes in, and they can buy ads to promote their priorities, etc. Their priority list doesn’t count any more than anyone elses, but with the extra effort, they can use the different tools to… more

search box ajax dropdown
In the search box for "add a priority to my list", as you type is shows a filtered dropdown list of matching priorities.
This same functionality should be implemented for the priority search at the top-right of the page area.3 votesi hear you. soon, i’m going to change that top search box to search the briefing room and members, not just the priorities, so i’ll add in the autocomplete when i do that.

Add a "poll" feature. Allow users to create polls.
A separate area within the WH2 site that would allow members to create polls.
To be able to post a question like:
"Do the current Congressional rules and regulations encourage or promote corruption?"
"Is it possible for a Congressman to remain true to his constituents after being in office for more than 2 terms?"
I would prefer a 1 to 5 scale or something like that (as apposed to a yes/no system).
Some schemes also allow for the user to create the "answer selections" that are to be clicked on. For instance, 10 statements to choose from when answering the… more

I think a version of this could work. It will have to wait a little while, i’ve got a lot of other stuff to work on. I’m thinking of a question/answer thing, like what you describe with yes/no or options.. but then also a free-form answer that would then let people vote on the answers they thought were best. sort of like how stackoverflow.com or yahoo answers work. so it could be used like a poll in the way you describe, but also as a way to figure out the best answer to a factual question, like who’s the wealthiest u.s. senator?

Data for Citizens
Use open public standards for data formats. Provide metamodel for non technical people
3 voteswhat is metamodel?
The data is available in XML, just add .xml to any url like this: http://whitehouse2.org/priorities/top.xml
You can also get a StratML file here: http://whitehouse2.org/export/stratml
A bunch of the pages are also available in RSS (but not all).

consider collecting information about the participants
As a Marketing Researcher, i wonder whether we should begin to think about collecting some degree of information on participants. If you're going to try to persuade someone that these should be Obama's ideas, you'll have to convince them or tell them 'who' the people on the site are.
Are they hard core Dems? Independents?
what is their education level? You've started with zip-code, but it could be broader. It certainly has to remain optional...and be well thought out and executed.

PUT NJ DETECTIVE HARRY SHORTWAY IN JAIL
COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS: WHEREBY MLADIC & KARADZIC TREATED ME WITH WEST MILFORD DETECTIVES HARRY SHORTWAY & PETER VAN GILST
The crime of attempted "genocide" was commited against me only thirty minutes from
the United Nations Security Council, in Manhattan.I, Jill Starr am an American citizen previously writing the UN about this in the early 1990s.
All together now, let’s remember the crime of ‘genocide,’ in and of itself, can be defined as either an attempt to kill one, OR thousands, of members of any specific
ethnic/religious group.More to come on this story.
